Fresh from the source
Ingredients come from our own garden, with the rest bought from farmers around us. What's in season is what's on the table.
Padamara Cooking Class & Experiences invites you into our kitchen in Sidemen, Karangasem, to cook the way Balinese families do: from scratch, with fresh produce, and around one shared table.

Padamara started from a simple idea: the best way to understand Bali is to cook its food. Not from a packet, but from a mortar, a knife and a garden a few steps from the stove.
We teach traditional Balinese and Indonesian dishes, starting with base genep, the complete spice paste behind so many of them. We also share a quieter craft: weaving young coconut leaf (janur) into ketupat, a tradition worth keeping alive.

Every class is hands-on. You grind, chop, stir and weave yourself, with a chef beside you at every step.
Cooking takes about two hours, then we sit down together and eat what you made at lunch or at dinner.
Our instructors speak both French and English, so instructions never get lost in translation. Whether you've never held a pestle or cook at home every day, the class adapts to you.

Start with the ingredients: what grows nearby, and what we source from local farmers.
